Zo coacht u: categorie en regel bij elk woord

In blok 9 leert uw kind niets nieuws: het herhaalt alle categorieën en werkwoorden van dit schooljaar. Vandaag noemde uw kind bij woorden de categorie en de regel, maakte het een dictee met de categoriekaart (het nummer van de categorie boven het woord) en zette het werkwoorden in de gebiedende wijs: bij ‘jij herhaalt’ hoort ‘Herhaal!’, zonder t.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Luister naar het woord en zeg het na.
    VraagWelk woord hoorde je? Zeg het nog eens.
  2. Zeg de categorie en de regel, in klanknamen (de klank, niet de naam van de letter). In de klas wijst uw kind bij het dictee met een vinger de categorie aan op de categoriekaart.
    VraagWelke categorieën zitten erin? Wat is de regel?
  3. Schrijf het woord op. Een samenstelling? Zet een sterretje ervoor. In de klas komt het nummer van de categorie erboven.

  4. Een werkwoord in de gebiedende wijs? Zeg de werkwoordregel: Persoonsvorm in de tegenwoordige tijd: ik-vorm+t, behalve bij ik en als jij of je erachter staat en bij de gebiedende wijs.
    VraagWat is de ik-vorm? Moet er een t bij?

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. Lees elk woord één keer voor; uw kind zegt het na, noemt de categorieën en schrijft het op: het examen · de tour · de lunch.Vraag: welke categorie hoor je? Wat is de regel?
  2. Gebiedende wijs: u zegt ‘jij maakt · jij loopt · jij helpt’; uw kind schrijft de gebiedende wijs met een uitroepteken en zegt de regel.Vraag: wat is de ik-vorm? Moet er een t bij?
  3. Lees voor: ‘De kleine hond slaapt in de grote mand.’ Uw kind zet onder elk woord de woordsoort: lw, bnw, znw, ww of vz.Vraag: welk woord zegt wat de hond doet?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: zoek op een verpakking of in een boek een woord met een x, ch of th. Schrijf het op en zeg de categorie en de regel.Vraag: welke klank hoor je? Hoe schrijf je die klank?

Tip van de juf

  • Eerst de categorie en de regel zeggen, dan pas schrijven: zo doet de juf het ook.
  • Bij de gebiedende wijs komt er geen extra t: ‘Kom!’, niet ‘Komt!’.

Categories and the imperative

How you coach: category and rule for every word

In block 9 your child learns nothing new: they revise all the categories and verbs of this school year. Today your child named the categorie (spelling category) and the rule for words, did a dictation with the category card (with the category number above the word) and put verbs in the gebiedende wijs (imperative, a command): ‘jij herhaalt’ becomes ‘Herhaal!’, without a t.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Listen to the word and say it back.
    AskWhich word did you hear? Say it again.
  2. Say the category and the rule, using letter sounds (the sound, not the name of the letter). In class, during the dictation, your child points with a finger to the category on the categoriekaart (category card).
    AskWhich categories are in it? What is the rule?
  3. Write the word down. A samenstelling (compound word)? Put a star in front of it. In class the category number goes above it.

  4. A verb in the imperative? Say the verb rule: Persoonsvorm in de tegenwoordige tijd: ik-vorm+t, behalve bij ik en als jij of je erachter staat en bij de gebiedende wijs. (Finite verb in the present tense: the ‘I’ form + t, except with ik, when jij or je comes after it, and in the imperative.)
    AskWhat is the ik-vorm (the ‘I’ form)? Does it need a t?

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word once; your child repeats it, names the categories and writes it: het examen · de tour · de lunch.Ask: which category do you hear? What is the rule?
  2. Imperative: you say ‘jij maakt · jij loopt · jij helpt’; your child writes the imperative with an exclamation mark and says the rule.Ask: what is the ‘I’ form? Does it need a t?
  3. Read aloud: ‘De kleine hond slaapt in de grote mand.’ Your child writes the word class under each word: lw (article), bnw (adjective), znw (noun), ww (verb) or vz (preposition).Ask: which word says what the dog is doing?
  4. From daily life: on packaging or in a book, find a word with x, ch or th. Write it down and say the category and the rule.Ask: which sound do you hear? How do you write that sound?

Tip from the teacher

  • First say the category and the rule, and only then write: the teacher does it the same way.
  • In the imperative there is no extra t: ‘Kom!’, not ‘Komt!’.
