Zo coacht u: oefenen voor de toets

In de toets van blok 9 maakt uw kind een toetsdictee (zonder categoriekaart, met meer woorden en zinnen dan anders), een werkwoordtoets en een grammaticatoets. Er komt niets nieuws: het gaat om de categorieën, de werkwoorden, de woordsoorten en de zinsdelen die uw kind dit schooljaar leerde.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Kijk eerst welke categorie of regel nog niet vanzelf gaat. Begin daar.

  2. Oefen zonder categoriekaart en zonder categorienummers: eerst de regel in je hoofd, dan schrijven. Een samenstelling: sterretje ervoor.

  3. Een werkwoord? Eerst: in welke tijd staat het? Dan de werkwoordregel van die tijd.

  4. Grammatica: de woordsoorten en de zinsdelen (persoonsvorm, werkwoordelijk gezegde, onderwerp).

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. Categoriespel: schrijf op briefjes: routewoord · garagewoord · Griekse y-woord. Uw kind trekt er een, zegt de regel en bedenkt een woord.Vraag: hoe weet je dat het klopt?
  2. Dictee zonder boek, elk woord één keer: de apotheek · de tournee · de conducteur.Vraag: welke categorieën herken je?
  3. Werkwoorden: u zegt het werkwoord (komen · lezen); uw kind schrijft ‘ik …’ (tegenwoordig), ‘wij …’ (verleden) en ‘hij …’ (voltooid).Vraag: wat is de werkwoordregel van die tijd?
  4. Lees voor: ‘De jonge juf leest een verhaal in de klas.’ Uw kind zoekt de woordsoorten, de pv en het onderwerp.Vraag: welk woord komt vooraan in een vraag?

  • Vraag na de toets niet naar goed of fout, maar: waar wil jij nog mee oefenen? Zo doet de juf het ook.

How you coach: practising for the test

In the block 9 test your child does a test dictation (without the category card, with more words and sentences than usual), a verb test and a grammar test. There is nothing new: it is about the categories, verbs, word classes and parts of the sentence your child learned this school year.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. First see which category or rule is not yet automatic. Start there.
    AskWhich category or rule do you find difficult?
  2. Practise without the categoriekaart (category card) and without category numbers: first the rule in your head, then write. A samenstelling (compound word): a star in front of it.
    AskWhich category is this? What is the rule?
  3. A verb? First: which tense is it? Then the verb rule for that tense.
    AskWhich tense is it? What is the ik-vorm (the ‘I’ form)?
  4. Grammar: the word classes and the parts of the sentence (persoonsvorm, finite verb; werkwoordelijk gezegde, all the verbs; onderwerp, subject).

Practise together at the table

  1. Category game: write on slips of paper: routewoord · garagewoord · Griekse y-woord. Your child draws one, says the rule and thinks of a word.Ask: how do you know it is right?
  2. Dictation without a book, each word once: de apotheek · de tournee · de conducteur.Ask: which categories do you recognise?
  3. Verbs: you say komen · lezen; your child writes ‘ik …’ (present), ‘wij …’ (past) and ‘hij …’ (perfect).Ask: what is the verb rule for that tense?
