Vraag: welke categorieën zitten in couscous?

Hoe ging het?

Tip van de juf

  • Zonder categoriekaart: laat uw kind eerst de regel in zijn hoofd zeggen en dan pas schrijven. Zeg niet voor welke categorie het is.
  • Bij het nakijken zegt uw kind de regels hardop: zo doen de kinderen het in de klas, met een nakijkpotlood.
Antwoorden voor de ouder: 1: alle drie: Colawoord. Ik schrijf c. · Routewoord. Ik schrijf otje-ou. · bij coupé ook: Caféwoord. Met een streepje op de e. · 2: eigen woorden; de regel: Isch-woord. Ik schrijf isch. · 3: persoonsvorm heeft; werkwoordelijk gezegde heeft gebreid; onderwerp onze buurvrouw · 4: eigen zin

The route word without the category card

Year group 6Spelling · Block 6, week 1 · lesson 210 min, no screens

Learning goal: "I can write the route word correctly."

How you coach: the dictation without the category card

Today your child practised the routewoord (route word: Routewoord. Ik schrijf otje-ou. (Route word. I write ou, with an o.)) again with new words. Your child did the dictation without the category card and with the Staal book closed: the rules have to be in their head. Your child also thought of isch-woorden (isch words) and said the rule: Isch-woord. Ik schrijf isch. (Isch word. I write isch.)

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Listen to the word and say it back.
AskWhich word did you hear? Say it again.
  2. Think of the category and the rule in your head. There is no categoriekaart (category card) and the staalboek (Staal book) is closed.
AskWhich category is this? What is the rule?
  3. More than one category in the word? Say them all, in order from left to right.
    AskWhich categories are in it?
  4. Write the word down, without a category number. A samenstelling (compound word) gets a star in front of it.
    AskIs it a compound word?

Words in bold are the Dutch words your child uses in class.

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word aloud once; your child says it back and writes it down, without the book: de couscous · de coupé · de clou.Ask: which category do you recognise? What is the rule?
  2. Isch words by heart: your child names three words ending in isch and says the rule.Ask: what is the rule? How do you know it is right?
  3. Read aloud: ‘Onze buurvrouw heeft een mooie trui gebreid.’ Your child finds the persoonsvorm (pv, finite verb), the werkwoordelijk gezegde (wwg, all the verbs together) and the onderwerp (ond, subject).Say the sentence as a question: which word comes first? For the subject ask: who or what + the finite verb?
  4. From daily life: your child makes up a Dutch sentence with the word couscous and writes it down, with a capital letter and a full stop.Ask: which categories are in couscous?

How did it go?

Tip from the teacher

  • Without the category card: let your child first say the rule in their head, and only then write. Do not say which category it is.
  • When checking, your child says the rules out loud: that is how the children do it in class, with a checking pencil.
Answers for the parent: 1: all three: Colawoord. Ik schrijf c. · Routewoord. Ik schrijf otje-ou. · coupé also: Caféwoord. Met een streepje op de e. · 2: own words; the rule: Isch-woord.
