Uw kind leerde vandaag een nieuwe categorie: het cadeauwoord. Dat zijn Franse leenwoorden die eindigen op e a u, zoals bureau. De regel: Cadeauwoord. Ik schrijf e a u. Bij de regel zegt uw kind e a u met de korte klanken /e/, /a/, /u/, niet met de namen van de letters.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Hoor je e a u aan het eind van het woord, zoals bij bureau? Dan is het een cadeauwoord.
    VraagHoe eindigt dit woord? Welke categorie is het?
  2. Zeg de regel: Cadeauwoord. Ik schrijf e a u.
    VraagWat is de regel?
  3. Verwoord het woord van links naar rechts, met klanknamen (de klank, niet de naam van de letter). Wacht voor eau en zeg de regel; schrijf dan verder.

  4. Schrijf het woord op. Een samenstelling? Zet een sterretje ervoor en verwoord elk deel.
    VraagIs het een samenstelling? Welk deel is het cadeauwoord?

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. Lees elk woord één keer voor; uw kind zegt het na en schrijft het op: chapeau · het kaasplateau · de cadeauwinkel.Vraag: wat zeg je bij het eind van het woord? Is het een samenstelling?
  2. Werkwoorden: u zegt het hele werkwoord (bezorgen · ontdekken · bestellen); uw kind schrijft ik … · jij … · … jij?Vraag: welke werkwoordregel hoort erbij?
  3. Lees voor: ‘De verkoper werkt in een cadeauwinkel.’ Uw kind zet onder elk woord de woordsoort: lw, znw, ww of vz.Vraag: welk woord is het werkwoord?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: zoek op een verpakking, in een folder of in huis een woord dat eindigt op e a u. Schrijf het op en zeg de regel.Vraag: hoe eindigt het woord?

Tip van de juf

  • Op school oefenen de kinderen vooral met woorden die ze vaak zien, zoals cadeau en bureau. Meer cadeauwoorden zijn er niet veel.
  • Let op het verschil met het caféwoord van vorige week: daar komt een streepje op de e, hier schrijft uw kind e a u.

How you coach: putting the cadeau word into words, as at school

Today your child learned a new category: the cadeauwoord (cadeau word). These are French loanwords that end in e a u, such as bureau. The rule: Cadeauwoord. Ik schrijf e a u. (Cadeau word. I write e a u.) With the rule your child says e a u with the short sounds /e/, /a/, /u/, not with the names of the letters.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Do you hear e a u at the end of the word, as in bureau? Then it is a cadeau word.
    AskHow does this word end? Which category is it?
  2. Say the rule: Cadeauwoord. Ik schrijf e a u.
    AskWhat is the rule?
  3. Put the word into words from left to right, using letter sounds (the sound, not the name of the letter). Stop before eau and say the rule; then carry on writing.

  4. Write the word down. A samenstelling (compound word)? Put a star in front of it and put each part into words.
    AskIs it a compound word? Which part is the cadeau word?

Tip from the teacher

  • At school the children mainly practise with words they often see, such as cadeau and bureau. There are not many more cadeau words.
  • Note the difference with last week’s café word: there the e gets a stroke, here your child writes e a u.
