Zo coacht u: categorie en regel bij elk woord

Dit was de laatste les van blok 4. De juf herhaalde de categorieën waar het nog niet vanzelf gaat, en uw kind schreef een dictee en zei bij elk woord de categorie en de regel. Daarna zocht uw kind de persoonsvorm en het onderwerp in een zin.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Luister naar het woord en zeg het na.
    VraagWelk woord hoorde je? Zeg het nog eens.
  2. Denk aan de categorie en de regel en zeg ze (op school: vinger op de categoriekaart).
    VraagWelke categorie is dit? Wat is de regel?
  3. Schrijf het woord op. Een samenstelling krijgt een sterretje ervoor.
    VraagIs het een samenstelling? Uit welke woorden bestaat het?
  4. Zin: let op de hoofdletter bij een woord dat van een land of stad komt. Zoek de persoonsvorm en het onderwerp.
    VraagWaar komt een hoofdletter? Wat is de persoonsvorm?

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. Lees elk woord één keer voor; uw kind zegt het na en schrijft het op: de thermometer · het kringetje · de eeuwigheid · de stommiteit.Vraag: welke categorie(ën) zitten erin?
  2. Lees de zin voor: ‘Wij zagen een Franse film in de bioscoop.’ Uw kind schrijft hem op en zoekt de persoonsvorm en het onderwerp.Zeg de zin in een andere tijd: welk woord verandert?
  3. Uw kind kiest een categorie die het nog wil blijven oefenen, zegt de regel en bedenkt er drie woorden bij.Vraag: hoe controleer je het woord?

Hoe ging het?

Tip van de juf

  • Aan het eind van het blok mag uw kind trots zijn: wat het al kan, hoeft het niet opnieuw te leren. Oefen alleen wat nog wiebelt.
  • Straks begint een nieuw blok met nieuwe woorden en regels: de aanpak (categorie, regel, schrijven) blijft hetzelfde.

How you coach: category and rule with every word

This was the last lesson of block 4. The teacher revised the categories that do not come automatically yet, and your child wrote a dictation and said the category and the rule with every word. Then your child found the persoonsvorm (finite verb) and the onderwerp (subject) in a sentence.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Listen to the word and say it back.
    AskWhich word did you hear? Say it again.
  2. Think of the category and the rule and say them (at school: finger on the category card).
    AskWhich category is this? What is the rule?
  3. Write the word down. A samenstelling (compound word) gets a star in front of it.
    AskIs it a compound word? Which words is it made of?
  4. Sentence: watch out for the capital letter on a word that comes from a country or city. Find the finite verb and the subject.
    AskWhere does a capital letter go? What is the finite verb?

Words in bold are the Dutch words your child uses in class.

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word aloud once; your child says it back and writes it down: de thermometer · het kringetje · de eeuwigheid · de stommiteit.Ask: which categories are in it?
  2. Read the sentence aloud: ‘Wij zagen een Franse film in de bioscoop.’ Your child writes it down and finds the finite verb and the subject.Say the sentence in a different tense: which word changes?
  3. Your child chooses a category they want to keep practising, says the rule and thinks of three words for it.Ask: how do you check the word?

Tip from the teacher

  • At the end of the block your child can be proud: what they can already do, they do not have to learn again. Only practise what is still wobbly.
  • Soon a new block starts with new words and rules: the method (category, rule, write) stays the same.
