  2. Zeg ook de andere categorieën in het woord, met de regel erbij.
    VraagWelke andere categorieën zitten erin?
  3. Werkwoord: zeg of het sterk of zwak is en maak de verleden tijd en de voltooide tijd.
VraagWat is de verleden tijd? Wat is de voltooide tijd?

Ik schrijf i. · lasten: klankgroep las, laatste klank s, medeklinker: ik schrijf wat ik hoor · expert: Taxiwoord. Ik schrijf x. · 2: plukte – hij heeft geplukt (zwak) · sprong – hij is gesprongen (sterk) · klopte – hij heeft geklopt (zwak) · 3: eigen woorden, met categorie en regel.

Revision after the test

Year group 6Spelling · Block 2, week 3 · lesson 510 min, no screens

Learning goal: "I can correctly write the categories I still find difficult."

How you coach: category and rule with every word

Today your child revised the categories they still find difficult, such as the sound-group word with -ueel and -eaal, the kilo word with -ieel and -iaal and the taxi word. Your child talked words through step by step and named the other categories in every word.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Say the word back. Talk it through from left to right, with letter sounds.
AskWhat is the sound group? What is the last sound?
  2. Also say the other categories in the word, with the rule.
AskWhich other categories are in it?
  3. Verb: say whether it is strong or weak and make the past tense and the perfect tense.
AskWhat is the past tense? What is the perfect tense?
  4. Check and say for every word: what is the category and what is the rule?
AskIs your word right? What is the rule?

Words in bold are the Dutch words your child uses in class.

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word aloud once; your child says it back, talks it through from left to right and writes it down: de gladiool · de lasten · de expert.Ask: which category or categories are in it? What is the rule?
  2. You say the verb; your child says the past tense and the perfect tense: plukken · springen · kloppen.Ask: is it a strong or a weak verb?
  3. Together choose one category your child still finds difficult and think of three words for it. Your child says the category and the rule for each word.Ask: how do you check the word?

How did it go?

Tip from the teacher

  • Praise what is already going well and ask: which category would you like to practise more? Your child tells the teacher too.
  • If a sentence has an auxiliary verb with a past participle, it is the perfect tense.
Answers for the parent: 1: gladiool: Kilowoord. Ik schrijf i. · lasten: klankgroep las, laatste klank s, medeklinker: ik schrijf wat ik hoor · expert: Taxiwoord.
