- Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
- Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
- Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
- Zeg: Het bijvoeglijk naamwoord zegt iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord. โโฆ zegt iets over โฆโVraagWelk woord is het bijvoeglijk naamwoord? Waar zegt het iets over?
- Komt het van een aardrijkskundige naam? Dan schrijf je het met een hoofdletter.VraagHoort het bij een land, stad of streek? Wat doe je met de eerste letter?
- Persoonsvorm met de vraagproef: maak van de zin een vraag; de persoonsvorm komt vooraan. Onderwerp: wie of wat + persoonsvorm?VraagWelk woord komt vooraan in de vraag? Wie of wat โฆ?
- Hoofdletters en leestekens: aan het begin van de zin, bij namen en aardrijkskundige namen; na zegt een dubbele punt en aanhalingstekens.VraagWaar komen hoofdletters en leestekens?

The adjective: also from a place name
Learning goal: "I can recognise the adjective in a sentence, also when it comes from a place name."
How you coach: recognising the adjective
Today your child revised the bijvoeglijk naamwoord (adjective): it says something about the zelfstandig naamwoord (noun). If it comes from a place name (a country, city or region), you write it with a capital letter, such as Europese or Gelderse. Your child also found the persoonsvorm (finite verb) and the onderwerp (subject) with the question test.
- Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
- Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
- Praise the method, not just the answer.
- Say: Het bijvoeglijk naamwoord zegt iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord. (The adjective says something about the noun.) โโฆ zegt iets over โฆโ (โฆ says something about โฆ)AskWhich word is the adjective? What does it say something about?
- Does it come from a place name? Then you write it with a capital letter.AskDoes it belong to a country, city or region? What do you do with the first letter?
- Finite verb with the vraagproef (question test): turn the sentence into a question; the finite verb comes first. Subject: who or what + finite verb?AskWhich word comes first in the question? Who or what โฆ?
- Capital letters and punctuation: at the start of the sentence, for names and place names; after zegt (says) a colon and quotation marks.AskWhere do capital letters and punctuation marks go?
Words in bold are the Dutch words your child uses in class.
