Uw kind breidde vandaag het kilowoord uit: woorden die eindigen op -ieel, -iaal, -iool of -iaan, zoals essentieel en speciaal. Je hoort /ie/, maar je schrijft i. De regel: Kilowoord. Ik schrijf i. Ook zei uw kind bij een werkwoord in welke tijd de zin staat.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Spreek het woord overdreven uit: hoor je /ie/? Dan is het een kilowoord. Zeg: Kilowoord. Ik schrijf i.

  2. Wacht steeds vóór de i, zeg de regel en schrijf dan verder.

  4. Werkwoord in een zin: kijk naar de persoonsvorm en bedenk er ‘nu’ of ‘eerder’ bij. Zo weet je of het de tegenwoordige, de verleden of de voltooide tijd is.

  1. Lees elk woord één keer voor, met een overdreven /ie/; uw kind zegt het na en schrijft het op: commercieel · de gladiool · de Braziliaan.Vraag: wat zeg je voordat je de i schrijft? Wat is de regel?
  2. Welke tijd? Lees voor: De buurman fietste naar de winkel. · Wij hebben gewandeld. · De kinderen spelen buiten. Uw kind zegt de persoonsvorm en de tijd.Denk ‘nu’ of ‘eerder’ erbij. Staan er een hulpwerkwoord en een voltooid deelwoord in?
  3. Uit het dagelijks leven: zoek in een boek of folder een woord op -ieel, -iaal of -iaan. Schrijf het op en zeg de regel.Vraag: hoor je /ie/? Wat is de regel?

How you coach: the kilo word with -ieel and -iaal

Today your child extended the kilowoord (kilo word): words ending in -ieel, -iaal, -iool or -iaan, such as essentieel and speciaal. You hear /ie/, but you write i. The rule: Kilowoord. Ik schrijf i. (I write i.) Your child also said which tense a sentence is in.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Say the word with an exaggerated /ie/: do you hear /ie/? Then it is a kilo word. Say: Kilowoord. Ik schrijf i.

  2. Stop each time just before the i, say the rule and then carry on writing.
    AskWhat do you say just before you write the i?
  3. Does the end sound like /eel/? Then you also get: Eel-woord. Ik schrijf ee. (Eel word: I write ee.)
    AskHow does the end of the word sound? Which categories are in it?
  4. Verb in a sentence: look at the persoonsvorm (finite verb) and think ‘nu’ (now) or ‘eerder’ (earlier). That tells you whether it is the present, the past or the perfect tense.
