Klankgroepenwoorden zonder categoriekaart

  4. Schrijf het woord op, zonder categorienummer. Een samenstelling krijgt een sterretje ervoor.
    VraagIs het een samenstelling?

Samen oefenen aan tafel

Sound-group words without the category card

Year group 6Spelling · Block 10, week 4 · lesson 210 min, no screens

Learning goal: "I can correctly write the categories and verbs I have learned."

How you coach: talking the sound groups of a word through

Today your child wrote two words together with the teacher and talked the sound groups through. Then your child did the dictation without the categoriekaart (category card) and found the parts of the sentence in the dictation sentence.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Listen to the word and say it back.
AskWhich word did you hear? Say it again.
  2. Think of the category and the rule in your head. More than one category in the word? Say them all.
    AskWhich categories are in it?
  3. Say the klankgroepen (sound groups, the parts of the word) one by one: ‘De klankgroep is …. De laatste klank is …. Dat is een lange klank. Ik neem een stukje van de … weg.’ (The sound group is …. The last sound is …. That is a long sound. I take away a bit of the ….) With a short sound: ‘Ik schrijf de … dubbel.’ (I write the … double.) With a consonant: ‘Ik schrijf wat ik hoor.’ (I write what I hear.)
AskWhat is the sound group? What is the last sound?
  4. Write the word down, without a category number. A samenstelling (compound word) gets a star in front of it.
    AskIs it a compound word?

Words in bold are the Dutch words your child uses in class.

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word aloud once; your child says it back, talks the sound groups through and writes it down, without the staalboek (Staal book): het college · de mascara · het plumeau.Ask: which sound groups do you hear? Which categories?
  2. Read aloud: ‘Mijn opa fietst elke dag door het bos.’ Your child finds the persoonsvorm (pv, finite verb), the werkwoordelijk gezegde (wwg, all the verbs) and the onderwerp (ond, subject).Make it a question: which word comes first?
  3. Choose a category that is still difficult, say the rule and think of three words.Ask: how do you know it is right?

How did it go?

Tip from the teacher

  • Without the category card, your child says the rule in their head first, then writes. Do not name the category.
  • More practice? Use the practice sheet (button on the digital card).
