Zo coacht u: categorie en regel bij elk woord

Uw kind herhaalde vandaag de categorieën van groep 4: het hakwoord, het zingwoord, het luchtwoord, het plankwoord en het eer-oor-eur-eel-woord. Ook herhaalde uw kind de samenstelling: twee woorden in één woord, zoals surfplank. Bij elk woord noemt uw kind de categorie én de regel.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Zeg het woord na en bedenk de categorie. Zeg ook de regel, bijvoorbeeld: Zingwoord. Ik schrijf ng.
    VraagWelke categorie is dit woord? Wat is de regel?
  2. Een samenstelling? Zeg eerst ‘samenstelling’. Dan het 1e woord met zijn categorie en regel, en dan het 2e woord met zijn categorie en regel.
    VraagWelke twee woorden hoor je? Wat is de categorie van het 1e woord, en van het 2e?
  3. Schrijf het woord op. Een samenstelling krijgt een sterretje ervoor.
    VraagIs het een samenstelling? Dan zet je een sterretje ervoor.
  4. Kijk na en zeg bij elk woord: wat is de categorie en wat is de regel?
    VraagKlopt je woord? Wat is de regel?

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. Lees elk woord één keer voor; uw kind zegt het na en schrijft het op: de slang · de vink · de macht · het meer.Vraag: welke categorie is dit? Wat is de regel?
  2. Lees voor: de voetbal · de zandbak · het zwembad. Uw kind zegt ‘samenstelling’, noemt de twee woorden en schrijft het woord op.Vraag: welke twee woorden hoor je? Waar zet je het sterretje?
  3. Lees de zin één keer voor; uw kind zegt hem na en schrijft hem in één keer op: De jongen kijkt naar de grote vogel in het water.Vraag: waar staat de hoofdletter? Welk leesteken hoort aan het eind?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: zoek in de keuken drie samenstellingen. Schrijf ze op met een sterretje ervoor.Vraag: welke twee woorden zitten erin?

Tip van de juf

  • Praat niet in nummers, maar in categorienamen en regels, zoals de juf doet: ‘Zingwoord. Ik schrijf ng.’
Antwoorden voor de ouder: 1: slang: Zingwoord. Ik schrijf ng. · vink: Plankwoord. Daar mag niets tussen. · macht: Luchtwoord. Korte klank + cht met de ch van lucht. Behalve bij hij ligt, hij legt, hij zegt. · meer: Eer-woord. Ik schrijf ee. · 2: *voetbal (voet + bal) · *zandbak (zand + bak) · *zwembad (zwem + bad) · 3: De jongen kijkt naar de grote vogel in het water. How you coach: category and rule with every word

Today your child revised the spelling categories from group 4: the hakwoord (written as you hear it), the zingwoord (ng), the luchtwoord (cht), the plankwoord (nk) and the eer-oor-eur-eel-woord (ee, oo or eu before r or l). Your child also revised the samenstelling (compound word): two words in one, such as surfplank. With every word your child names the category and the rule.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Say the word back and think of the category. Also say the rule, for example: Zingwoord. Ik schrijf ng. (Sing word: I write ng.)
    AskWhich category is this word? What is the rule?
  2. A compound word? First say ‘samenstelling’. Then the 1st word with its category and rule, and then the 2nd word with its category and rule.
    AskWhich two words do you hear? What is the category of the 1st word, and of the 2nd?
  3. Write the word down. A compound word gets a star in front of it.
    AskIs it a compound word? Then you put a star in front of it.
  4. Check and say for every word: what is the category and what is the rule?
    AskIs your word right? What is the rule?

Practise together at the table

  1. Read each word aloud once; your child says it back and writes it down: de slang · de vink · de macht · het meer.Ask: which category is this? What is the rule?
  2. Read aloud: de voetbal · de zandbak · het zwembad. Your child says ‘samenstelling’, names the two words and writes the word down.Ask: which two words do you hear? Where do you put the star?
  3. Read the sentence aloud once; your child says it back and writes it down in one go: De jongen kijkt naar de grote vogel in het water.Ask: where is the capital letter? Which punctuation mark goes at the end?
  4. From daily life: find three compound words in the kitchen. Write them down with a star in front.Ask: which two words are in it?
