Uw kind leerde vandaag kommagetallen goed uitspreken en opschrijven, ook met een 0 na de komma. 3,45 is 3 hele, 4 tienden en 5 honderdsten: 'drie komma vijfenveertig'. En 5,06 is 'vijf komma nul zes': de 0 staat op de plek van de tienden, de 6 op de plek van de honderdsten.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Vóór de komma staan de hele. Zeg dat getal eerst.

  2. Zeg komma (of schrijf de komma op).
    VraagWaar komt de komma? Wat zegt de komma?
  3. Na de komma: de 1e plek zijn de tienden, de 2e plek de honderdsten. Zeg het getal dat erachter staat.

  4. Staat er direct na de komma een 0? Zeg dan ook "nul" en schrijf hem op: twee komma nul vijf = 2,05.

  1. Hoe spreek je 8,47 uit?Vraag: hoeveel hele zijn het? En wat staat er na de komma?
  2. Schrijf met cijfers: zes komma nul negen.Vraag: hoeveel cijfers komen er na de komma? Welke plek is de nul?
  3. Schrijf met cijfers: 7 hele, 5 tienden en 1 honderdste.Vraag: welke plek is de eerste na de komma, en welke de tweede?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: op een kassabon staat € 6,08. Hoe zeg je dat bedrag?Vraag: hoeveel euro is het? En hoeveel cent? Hoe zeg je het bij geld?

Tip van de juf

  • Dé fout van vandaag: de 0 na de komma vergeten. Wie 'twee komma nul vijf' opschrijft als 2,5, slaat de nul over. 2,5 is veel meer dan 2,05: 5 tienden is 50 honderdsten. Laat uw kind het getal nog eens langzaam zeggen en met de vinger de plekken aantikken.
  • Bij geld staan er altijd twee cijfers na de komma. € 2,07 is 'twee euro zeven' (7 cent): je hoort geen nul, maar je schrijft hem wel.
Antwoorden voor de ouder: 1: acht komma zevenenveertig · 2: 6,09 · 3: 7,51 · 4: zes euro acht (6 euro en 8 cent).

How you coach: the school's plan 'Saying and writing kommagetallen'

Today your child learned to say decimal numbers aloud in Dutch and write them down, also with a 0 after the comma (a Dutch comma is an English decimal point). 3,45 is 3 wholes, 4 tenths (tienden) and 5 hundredths (honderdsten): drie komma vijfenveertig (three comma forty-five). And 5,06 is vijf komma nul zes (five comma zero six): the 0 is in the place of the tenths, the 6 in the place of the hundredths.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Before the comma are the wholes. Say that number first.
    AskHow many wholes are there?
  2. Say komma (comma), or write down the comma.
    AskWhere does the comma go? What does the comma tell you?
  3. After the comma: the 1st place is the tenths, the 2nd place the hundredths. Say the number behind it.
    AskHow many digits come after the comma? Which place is which?
  4. Is there a 0 directly after the comma? Then also say "nul" (zero) and write it down: twee komma nul vijf = 2,05.

Tip from the teacher

  • The typical mistake: forgetting the 0 after the comma. A child who writes 'twee komma nul vijf' as 2,5 skips the zero. 2,5 is much more than 2,05: 5 tenths is 50 hundredths. Let your child say the number slowly again and tap the places with a finger.
  • With money there are always two digits after the comma. € 2,07 is twee euro zeven (two euros seven, 7 cents): you do not hear a zero, but you do write it.
Answers for the parent: 1: acht komma zevenenveertig · 2: 6,09 · 3: 7,51 · 4: zes euro acht (6 euros and 8 cents).
