Aftrekken met twee tekorten

Uw kind leerde vandaag aftrekken als je bij de tientallen én bij de eenheden tekort komt. Bij 812 − 357 is 10 − 50 = −40 en 2 − 7 = −5. Bij stap 5 haal je allebei de min-getallen eraf, in twee kleine sprongen: 500 − 40 = 460 en 460 − 5 = 455.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Zet de getallen recht onder elkaar: H onder H, T onder T, E onder E.
    VraagStaan de eenheden onder de eenheden en de tientallen onder de tientallen? Hoe zie je dat?
  2. Trek de honderdtallen af.
    VraagWelke honderdtallen trek je van elkaar af? Wat is het deelresultaat?
  3. Trek de tientallen af. Kom je tekort? Schrijf het tekort als min-getal.
    VraagKom je bij de tientallen tekort? Hoeveel is dat waard?
  4. Trek de eenheden af. Kom je tekort? Schrijf het tekort als min-getal: 2 − 8 → 6 tekort → −6.
    VraagKom je ook bij de eenheden tekort? Hoeveel tekorten heeft de som dan?
  5. Tel de deelresultaten op. Bij stap 5 haal je een min-getal eraf.
    VraagWat doe je met de twee min-getallen? Welke tussenuitkomst krijg je?
  6. Controleer: rond af op honderdtallen en schat.

  1. 745 − 368 = ... Schrijf de drie deelresultaten erbij.Vraag: hoeveel tekorten heeft deze som? Doe stap 5 in twee sprongen.
  2. 824 − 357 = ...Vraag: hoeveel tekorten zie je, en bij welke kolommen?
  3. 502 − 134 = ...Vraag: wat gebeurt er bij 0 − 30? Wat doe je met die uitkomst?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: een gezin spaart € 900 voor een vakantie. Er is al € 658. Hoeveel moet er nog bij?Vraag: wat is de som? Hoeveel tekorten verwacht je?

Tip van de juf

  • Twee tekorten: de min-getallen haal je eraf, je telt ze niet op. Dan krijg je 375 in plaats van 225 bij 612 − 387. De klas zegt: 'Min-getallen haal je eraf.' Schatten laat meteen zien welk antwoord klopt.
  • Doe stap 5 in twee sprongen en schrijf de tussenuitkomst op: eerst −40, dan −5. Tel eerst hoeveel tekorten de som heeft, en reken dan pas.
  • Bij verhaaltjes gebruikt de klas altijd het 5-stappenplan: lees 2 keer · wat weet ik, wat is de vraag? · schrijf de som op · reken uit · controleer + eenheid. Hier is 'reken uit' het kolomsgewijs aftrekken met twee min-getallen.

Subtracting when you are short twice

How you coach: the school's plan 'Kolomsgewijs subtracting up to 1000', now with being short twice

Today your child learned to subtract when you are short (tekort) at the tens and the ones. In 812 − 357, 10 − 50 = −40 and 2 − 7 = −5. At step 5 you take both min-getallen (minus numbers) off in two jumps: 500 − 40 = 460 and 460 − 5 = 455.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Put the numbers exactly under each other: H under H, T under T, E under E (hundreds, tens, ones).

  2. Subtract the hundreds.
    AskWhich hundreds do you take away from each other? What is the part result?
  3. Subtract the tens. Are you short? Write what you are short as a min-getal.

  4. Subtract the ones. Are you short? Write what you are short as a min-getal (minus number): 2 − 8 → 6 short → −6.
    AskAre you also short at the ones? How many shortages does the sum have then?
  5. Add up the part results. At step 5 you take a min-getal off.
    AskWhat do you do with the two min-getallen? Which in-between answer do you get?
  6. Check: round to the nearest hundred and estimate.

Practise together at the table

  1. 745 − 368 = ... Write the three part results next to it.Ask: how many shortages does this sum have? Do step 5 in two jumps.

  3. 502 − 134 = ...Ask: what happens with 0 − 30? What do you do with that result?
  4. From daily life: a family is saving € 900 for a holiday. They already have € 658. How much more do they need?Ask: what is the sum? How many shortages do you expect?

Tip from the teacher

  • Two shortages: take the min-getallen off, do not add them. Otherwise 612 − 387 gives 375 instead of 225. The class says: 'Min-getallen haal je eraf' (take minus numbers off). Estimating shows which is right.
  • Do step 5 in two jumps and write down the in-between answer: first −40, then −5. First count how many shortages the sum has, and only then work it out.
  • For story sums the class always uses the 5-step plan (5-stappenplan): read it 2 times · what do I know, what is the question? · write down the sum · work it out · check + unit. Here 'work it out' is kolomsgewijs subtracting with two min-getallen.
