Cijferend optellen met een 0 in het antwoord

Uw kind leerde vandaag wat je opschrijft als een kolom precies op 10 uitkomt: een 0, en je onthoudt 1. Bij 275 + 135 is 5 + 5 = 10, dus 0 opschrijven en 1 onthouden: het antwoord is 410. De 0 kan ook in het midden komen, zoals bij 438 + 267 = 705.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Zet de getallen recht onder elkaar: E onder E, T onder T, H onder H. Eén cijfer per hokje.
    VraagStaan de eenheden onder de eenheden en de tientallen onder de tientallen? Hoe zie je dat?
  2. Begin rechts bij de eenheden. Tel de cijfers op en schrijf het antwoord onder de streep.

  3. Kom je op 10 of meer? Schrijf alleen het laatste cijfer op en zet de 1 klein boven de volgende kolom.

  4. Ga naar links: tientallen, honderdtallen… Tel het kleine cijfer erboven mee.

Samen oefenen aan tafel

  1. 285 + 325 = ...Vraag: wat tel je bij de eenheden op? Welk cijfer komt er in het hokje?
  2. 364 + 237 = ...Vraag: wat tel je bij de tientallen precies op? Tel je het onthoudcijfer mee?
  3. 1735 + 2465 = ...Vraag: hoeveel hokjes staan er onder de streep? Zijn ze allemaal gevuld?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: een zwembad had in mei 1286 bezoekers en in juni 654. Hoeveel bezoekers zijn dat samen?Vraag: wat is je schatting? Komt je antwoord daar in de buurt?

Hoe ging het?

Tip van de juf

  • Onder de streep komt in elk hokje één cijfer. Is het 10? Dan is dat cijfer een 0 en onthoud je 1. Twee fouten: het hokje leeg laten (75 in plaats van 705) en 10 helemaal opschrijven (7105).
  • Schatten vangt allebei de fouten: 438 + 267 is ongeveer 400 + 300 = 700, dus 75 of 7105 kan niet. Tel ook de hokjes: even veel onder de streep als erboven.
  • Bij verhaaltjes gebruikt de klas altijd het 5-stappenplan: lees 2 keer · wat weet ik, wat is de vraag? · schrijf de som op · reken uit · controleer + eenheid. Hier is 'reken uit' het cijferend optellen met de vijf stappen hierboven.
Antwoorden voor de ouder: 1: 610 · 2: 601 · 3: 4200 · 4: 1286 + 654 = 1940 bezoekers.

Column addition with a 0 in the answer

How you coach: the school's plan 'Column addition', with the 0 in the answer

Today your child learned what to write when a column adds up to exactly 10: a 0, and you carry 1 (the onthoudcijfer). In 275 + 135, 5 + 5 = 10, so write down 0 and carry 1: the answer is 410. The 0 can also be in the middle, as in 438 + 267 = 705.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Put the numbers exactly under each other: E under E, T under T, H under H (ones, tens, hundreds). One digit per box.

  2. Start on the right with the ones. Add the digits and write the answer under the line.

Practise together at the table

  1. 285 + 325 = ...Ask: what do you add at the ones? Which digit goes in the box?
  2. 364 + 237 = ...Ask: what exactly do you add at the tens? Do you add the onthoudcijfer too?
  3. 1735 + 2465 = ...Ask: how many boxes are there under the line? Are they all filled?
  4. From daily life: a swimming pool had 1286 visitors in May and 654 in June. How many visitors is that altogether?Ask: what is your estimate? Is your answer close to it?

How did it go?

Tip from the teacher

  • Under the line there is one digit in every box. Is it 10? Then that digit is a 0 and you carry 1. Two mistakes: leaving the box empty (75 instead of 705) and writing down the whole 10 (7105).
  • Estimating catches both mistakes: 438 + 267 is about 400 + 300 = 700, so 75 or 7105 is not possible. Also count the boxes: as many under the line as above it.
  • For story sums the class always uses the 5-step plan (5-stappenplan): read it 2 times · what do I know, what is the question? · write down the sum · work it out · check + unit. Here 'work it out' is column addition with the five steps above.
