Uw kind leerde vandaag getallen met vier cijfers hardop zeggen, op twee manieren. 5306 is manier 1: vijfduizend driehonderdzes, of manier 2: drieënvijftighonderdzes (53 honderdtallen). Ook andersom: uit woorden de cijfers opschrijven.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Zet het getal in het schema D H T E.
    VraagWelk cijfer staat bij de D, de H, de T en de E?
  2. Uitspreken: manier 1 eerst de duizendtallen, manier 2 eerst de honderdtallen.
    VraagWat zeg je eerst bij manier 1? En bij manier 2?
  3. 0 bij de honderdtallen (zoals 4018)? Dan altijd manier 1.
    VraagHoeveel honderdtallen zijn er? Kan manier 2 dan?
  4. Opschrijven: elk stuk op zijn plek. Een lege plek krijgt een 0.
    VraagWelk stuk hoort bij de duizendtallen, de honderdtallen, de tientallen en de eenheden? Is er een lege plek?

  1. Spreek 4725 uit op manier 1 en op manier 2.Vraag: zet het getal in het schema. Wat zeg je eerst bij manier 2?
  2. Schrijf met cijfers: zevenduizend driehonderdnegenenvijftigVraag: welk stuk hoor je eerst? Zet elk stuk op zijn plek in het schema.
  3. Spreek 6081 uit. Kan dat ook op manier 2?Vraag: hoeveel honderdtallen zijn er?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: op het kaartje van een pretpark staat dat er vorig jaar 8407 bezoekers waren. Hoe zeg je dat getal hardop?Vraag: zet het getal eerst in het schema D H T E.

Tip van de juf

  • Dé fout van vandaag: een 0 bij de honderdtallen. 4018 spreekt niemand uit als 'veertighonderd achttien'. Staat er een 0 bij de honderdtallen, dan begin je altijd met de duizendtallen: vierduizend achttien.
  • Bij opschrijven krijgt een lege plek een 0. Wie 'drieduizend zevenhonderdacht' als 378 schrijft, is de 0 bij de tientallen vergeten. Laat uw kind het schema tekenen en elk stuk op zijn plek zetten.
Antwoorden voor de ouder: 1: vierduizend zevenhonderdvijfentwintig, of zevenenveertighonderdvijfentwintig · 2: 7359 · 3: zesduizend eenentachtig (nee, er zijn 0 honderdtallen, dus alleen manier 1) · 4: achtduizend vierhonderdzeven, of vierentachtighonderdzeven.

How you coach: the school's plan 'Saying and writing numbers up to 10 000'

Today your child learned to say four-digit numbers aloud in Dutch, in two ways. 5306 is manier 1 (way 1): vijfduizend driehonderdzes (five thousand three hundred and six), or manier 2 (way 2): drieënvijftighonderdzes (53 hundreds and six). And the other way round: writing the digits from the words.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Put the number in the chart D H T E (thousands, hundreds, tens, ones).
    AskWhich digit is under the D, the H, the T and the E?
  2. Saying it: way 1 starts with the duizendtallen (thousands), way 2 with the honderdtallen (hundreds).
    AskWhat do you say first with way 1? And with way 2?
  3. A 0 in the hundreds (like 4018)? Then always way 1.
    AskHow many hundreds are there? Is way 2 possible then?
  4. Writing it: each part in its place. An empty place gets a 0.
    AskWhich part goes with the thousands, the hundreds, the tens and the ones? Is there an empty place?

Tip from the teacher

  • The typical mistake: a 0 in the hundreds. Nobody says 4018 as veertighonderd achttien (forty hundred eighteen). With a 0 in the hundreds you always start with the thousands: vierduizend achttien.
  • When writing, an empty place gets a 0. A child who writes drieduizend zevenhonderdacht as 378 forgot the 0 in the tens. Let your child draw the chart and put each part in its place.
