Zo coacht u: het stappenplan 'een digitale klok lezen' van school

Uw kind leerde vandaag een digitale klok lezen en de tijd zeggen zoals op een klok met wijzers. Bij 15:40 haalt het eerst 12 eraf: 15 − 12 = 3 uur. Dan zijn het 40 minuten na 3 uur, dus 10 over half 4 's middags.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Uren (vóór de dubbele punt): 13 of meer? Trek er 12 af.

  2. Minuten (na de dubbele punt): zoveel minuten na het hele uur.

  2. Zeg de tijd zoals op een klok met wijzers, met het dagdeel: 16:22Vraag: is het middag of avond? Welk uur noem je bij 'voor half'?
  3. Het is 12 voor half 8 's avonds. Hoe schrijf je dat digitaal op?Vraag: hoeveel minuten na het hele uur is dat? En welk uur is het, als je het dagdeel meetelt?
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: op het station staat dat de trein vertrekt om 15:48. Hoe laat is dat, zoals je het op een klok met wijzers zegt?Vraag: hoeveel minuten zijn het nog tot het volgende hele uur?

Hoe ging het?

Tip van de juf

  • Dé fout van vandaag: het verkeerde uur noemen. Na kwart over noem je het volgende uur: 07:45 is kwart voor 8 en niet kwart voor 7. Redeneer vanaf het hele uur: 45 minuten na 7 uur is nog een kwartier tot 8 uur. Een klokje ernaast helpt.
  • Twee andere fouten: vergeten dat er 12 af moet bij 13:00 en later, en het dagdeel vergeten. Dagdelen: nacht 00:00–06:00, ochtend 06:00–12:00, middag 12:00–18:00, avond 18:00–24:00. Kernzin: 'Na 12 uur 's middags komt er 12 bij.'

How you coach: the school's plan 'Reading a digital clock'

Today your child learned to read a digital clock and say the time as on a clock with hands, in Dutch (over = past, voor = to, half 4 = half past 3). For 15:40 your child first takes off 12: 15 − 12 = 3 o'clock; 40 minutes past 3 is 10 over half 4 's middags (3:40 in the afternoon).

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Hours (before the dubbele punt, the colon): 13 or more? Take off 12.

  2. Minutes (after the colon): that many minutes past the whole hour.

Tip from the teacher

  • The typical mistake: naming the wrong hour. After quarter past you name the next hour: 07:45 is kwart voor 8 (quarter to 8), not quarter to 7. Reason from the whole hour: 45 minutes past 7 is still a quarter of an hour to 8. A clock next to it helps.
  • Two other mistakes: forgetting to take off 12 at 13:00 and later, and forgetting the part of the day: 's nachts (night) 00:00–06:00, 's ochtends (morning) 06:00–12:00, 's middags (afternoon) 12:00–18:00, 's avonds (evening) 18:00–24:00. Key sentence: 'After 12 noon, 12 is added.'
Answers for the parent: 1: 13 over half 10 's ochtends (9:43 am) · 2: 8 voor half 5 's middags (4:22 pm) · 3: 19:18 · 4: 12 voor 4 's middags (3:48 pm).
