Zo coacht u: het stappenplan 'keersommen met nullen' van school

Uw kind leerde vandaag keersommen met nullen uit het hoofd. Bij 3 × 8000 haalt het de nullen weg: 3 × 8 = 24. Er waren 3 nullen, dus die komen erachter: 24 000 (24 duizendtallen). Bij 30 × 400 tellen de nullen van allebei de getallen mee.

  • Laat uw kind vertellen. U luistert en vraagt door.
  • Vraag, maar zeg het antwoord niet voor. Ook niet als u het weet.
  • Prijs de aanpak, niet alleen het antwoord.
  1. Haal alle nullen aan het eind weg en reken de makkelijke som uit. 30 × 400 → 3 × 4 = 12

  2. Tel alle nullen die je weggehaald hebt: die van het eerste én van het tweede getal. 1 + 2 = 3 nullen

  1. 7 × 900 = ...Vraag: wat is de makkelijke som? Hoeveel nullen zet je erachter?
  2. 20 × 600 = ...Vraag: hoeveel nullen heb je in totaal weggehaald?
  3. 50 × 80 = ...Vraag: wat is de makkelijke som? Controleer daarna met 50 × 100.
  4. Uit het dagelijks leven: een stadion heeft 70 vakken met in elk vak 600 zitplaatsen. Hoeveel zitplaatsen zijn er samen?Vraag: wat is je som? Wat is daarvan de makkelijke som?

Hoe ging het?

Tip van de juf

  • Dé valkuil van vandaag: de makkelijke som eindigt zelf op een 0. Bij 80 × 5000 is 8 × 5 = 40, en daar komen nog 4 nullen achter: 400 000. Wie 40 000 schrijft, is de nul van de 80 vergeten. Zeg erbij: '40 × 10 000'.
  • Laat uw kind zeggen wat het doet: 'Dat zijn 24 duizendtallen.' Dan blijft het geen trucje met nullen. Een tweede fout is de nullen van het eerste getal vergeten: laat ze hardop tellen.
  • Bij verhaaltjes gebruikt de klas altijd het 5-stappenplan: lees 2 keer · wat weet ik, wat is de vraag? · schrijf de som op · reken uit · controleer + eenheid. Hier is 'reken uit' de makkelijke som met nullen.

How you coach: the school's plan 'Times sums with zeros'

Today your child learned times sums with zeros in their head. For 3 × 8000 your child takes away the zeros: 3 × 8 = 24. There were 3 zeros, so they go behind it: 24 000 (24 thousands). With 30 × 400 the zeros of both numbers count.

  • Let your child explain. You listen and ask more.
  • Ask, but do not give the answer. Not even if you know it.
  • Praise the method, not just the answer.
  1. Take away all the zeros at the end and work out the makkelijke som (easy sum). 30 × 400 → 3 × 4 = 12

  2. Count all the zeros you took away: those of the first and of the second number. 1 + 2 = 3 zeros
    AskHow many zeros did you take away from the first number? And from the second? How many altogether?
  3. Put those zeros behind the answer to the easy sum. 12 000

  4. Check with a round number close by. 30 × 400 is more than 30 × 100 = 3000

Practise together at the table

  1. 7 × 900 = ...Ask: what is the easy sum? How many zeros do you put behind it?
  2. 20 × 600 = ...Ask: how many zeros did you take away altogether?
  3. 50 × 80 = ...Ask: what is the easy sum? Then check with 50 × 100.
  4. From daily life: a stadium has 70 sections with 600 seats in each section. How many seats are there altogether?Ask: what is your sum? What is the easy sum in it?

How did it go?

Tip from the teacher

  • The typical trap: the easy sum itself ends in a 0. With 80 × 5000, 8 × 5 = 40, and 4 more zeros go behind it: 400 000. Writing 40 000 means forgetting the zero of the 80. Say: '40 × 10 000'.
  • Let your child say what they do: 'That is 24 thousands.' Then it is not just a trick with zeros. Another mistake: forgetting the zeros of the first number. Let your child count them aloud.
  • For story sums the class always uses the 5-step plan (5-stappenplan): read it 2 times · what do I know, what is the question? · write down the sum · work it out · check + unit. Here 'work it out' is the easy sum with zeros.
